Holly Springs sits 25-30 minutes from our SoFive Raleigh facility — US-1 North to I-440 East to Hillsborough Street, with the western beltline being the slow stretch on weekday evenings. Carolina Velocity Academy serves U8, U9, and U10 boys and girls from Sunset Lake, Bass Lake, Holly Glen, and the 12 Oaks neighborhoods. Many of our Holly Springs families come for the indoor turf, the smaller groups, and the technical work that complements weekend team play rather than competing with it — focused academy sessions, no full-club travel calendar required.

From central Holly Springs (Main Street / Ting Park area), the most common route to 5600 Hillsborough Street is north on NC-55 toward Apex, then east on US-1 / US-64 to I-440 (the Raleigh Beltline) north, exiting at Hillsborough Street (Exit 3). An alternate is taking Holly Springs Road north to US-1, which avoids some of the NC-55 congestion through Apex.
Holly Springs is meaningfully further from SoFive than Apex or Cary — figure roughly 10-15 minutes longer each way. NC-55 through Apex and the I-440 inner loop are the two pinch points; afternoon rush (4:30-6:30pm) and Friday evenings are the worst. The recently completed Complete 540 extension has improved east-west connectivity, but most SoFive trips still funnel through US-1 / I-440 because 540 doesn't take you any closer to the Hillsborough Street corridor.
Players in our academy come from elementary schools across Holly Springs. If your child's school isn't listed, you're still welcome — these are simply the schools currently represented on our roster or in the immediate area.
Holly Springs has a fast-growing U8-U10 soccer market — town rec games, school-based programs, and weekend play at Womble Park, Bass Lake Park, and Sugg Farm at Bass Lake. Most Holly Springs families in this age group already have a Saturday or Sunday game home. The gap is technical training between match days.
Holly Springs families come to Velocity for the small-group, weeknight technical work their weekend programs don't typically include. The 25-30 minute drive to SoFive Raleigh is a real consideration for two weeknight sessions a week — but for families whose U8-U10 player is leaning into the sport, the indoor turf and coach-led format make it sustainable.
Holly Springs is one of North Carolina's fastest-growing towns, with the population climbing from roughly 9,000 in 2000 to a 2025 estimate near 50,000 — a 357% jump that ranks it among the fastest-growing similarly-sized cities in the country. The town skews young and family-heavy: median household income is around $135,000, the median age is in the mid-30s, and roughly 70% of housing was built after 2000. Combined with a town government that has invested heavily in parks (Ting Park, Womble Park, Bass Lake / Sugg Farm) and an award-winning rec department, that demographic has produced one of the most active youth sports cultures in southwest Wake County.
