From Knightdale Station, Mingo Creek, and the US-64 East corridor, Carolina Velocity Academy is roughly 20-25 minutes from SoFive Raleigh — US-64 West directly to I-440 South to Hillsborough Street. We coach U8, U9, and U10 boys and girls who come to the academy for professional small-group training that fills the gap between weekly team practice and weekend matches. Indoor turf means we don't lose Tuesday or Thursday sessions to North Carolina's summer thunderstorms or winter freezes, which matters when you're driving in from outside the beltline.

From central Knightdale (around Knightdale Station Park / downtown), the standard route is US-64 / US-264 West (the Knightdale Bypass) into I-440 West (Cliff Benson Beltline), then exit at Hillsborough Street (Exit 3) and head west to 5600 Hillsborough St. An alternate is Old Milburnie Rd or New Bern Ave (US-64 Business) to I-440, but the freeway route is faster and more reliable.
This drive crosses Raleigh east-to-west on the I-440 Beltline, which is one of the heavier commute corridors in the Triangle. Morning rush (7:00-9:00am) and evening rush (4:30-6:30pm) consistently add 10-15 minutes. Weekday evening practices that start around 5:30-6:30pm will land squarely in PM rush; allow extra padding. Weekend and mid-day drives are typically a clean 20-minute trip.
Players in our academy come from elementary schools across Knightdale. If your child's school isn't listed, you're still welcome — these are simply the schools currently represented on our roster or in the immediate area.
Knightdale has a growing youth soccer scene tied to Knightdale Station Park, the Mingo Creek greenway fields, and the town rec system. Most U8-U10 Knightdale families are already in a weekend program — town rec, school-based, or one of the local recreational tracks. The 20-25 minute drive to SoFive on weeknights is the question families weigh.
Velocity adds the technical-training layer that Knightdale's weekend ecosystem doesn't typically include — small groups, coach-led drilling, and indoor turf year-round. Most of our Knightdale families do exactly that: keep their weekend games local, add two SoFive sessions a week for the technical depth.
Knightdale is one of the Triangle's fastest-growing towns, having more than doubled in population since 2000 and ranking among the top 10 fastest-growing municipalities in North Carolina. It has consistently been recognized as one of the more affordable places to live in the Raleigh metro, drawing young families priced out of Cary, Apex, and central Raleigh. The town is investing heavily in parks, greenways, and downtown development around Knightdale Station Park, giving it a small-town family feel while sitting just 15 minutes from the state capital.
Carolina Velocity Youth Academy practices are held at SoFive Soccer Center Raleigh, conveniently located for Knightdale families.
